Our Mission

Supporting health systems achieve the best possible outcomes for individuals and populations while optimising resource utilisation and minimising waste.

Global health services are grappling with the challenge of increasing demands surpassing available resources. Significant advancements in technology, management, and evidence-based decision-making have been made, yet they're not enough on their own. There's a pressing need for continuous improvement in the quality, safety, and efficiency of patient services. A focus on value-based healthcare aims to address unwarranted variations in spending, underuse of valuable interventions, and overuse and waste by redefining how resources are allocated and ensuring equitable value delivery across all population segments.

Our mission is to speed up the shift towards value-based healthcare. We've played a key role in 3 major healthcare shifts over the last 30 years: investing in the Cochrane Collaboration to emphasise objective effectiveness evaluation, establishing the first Centre for Evidence Based Medicine, and creating National Screening Programmes inspired by Japanese quality assurance principles.

The Value Based Healthcare Paradigm, which incorporates all previous paradigms, remains essential. We aim to train all healthcare leadership and management in developing stewardship cultures and systems.
